FHP have been instructed to support plans for the multi-million-pound transformation of Crescent Gardens, Harrogate.

The move sees FHP provide the mechanical, electrical, public health and sustainability consultancy design services to commercial property company Impala Estates Limited. Crescent Gardens, the former headquarters of Harrogate Borough Council was granted planning permission for redevelopment designed by Harrogate based architects, S+SA.

A two-storey extension and rooftop restaurant along with new office space and a gym are planned and work by FHP will involve initiatives to ensure the building and its occupiers will benefit from sustainable and low energy development.

The work, which included the preparation of a pre-planning energy strategy, is the latest success for rapidly growing FHP. The Brewery Wharf-based consultancy currently employs 52 people across its Yorkshire and London offices as it continues to recruit additional staff to strengthen its team and meet strong demand as it targets revenues in excess of £3.5 million in turnover this year.

James Taylor, Director of FHP’s Leeds office, said: “This is another major success for us, strengthening the strong partnership we have with Impala Estates and projects in the Yorkshire region. It’s one of the largest schemes of its type in Yorkshire and reflects the expertise and experience we can provide to bring forward multi-million-pound building services and inward investment projects.”

Impala Estates Director, James Hartley said its plans herald a new chapter for one of Harrogate’s most distinctive buildings. He added: “This project brings significant public benefits which include bringing a disused building back into use and creating quality office and leisure space. FHP will bring critical insight and big project experience to the task; we very much look forward to seeing our plans come to full fruition.”
